The isolated version of Victron's Orion-Tr Smart DC-DC charger, built for dual battery setups in vehicles and boats where the alternator and start battery charge a separate service battery. The key difference from the non-isolated model is that the input and output have completely separate chassis grounds for safe, noise free charging on boats and sensitive systems.

Built-in Bluetooth lets you monitor and configure it from your phone via VictronConnect, and it can be controlled remotely through a wired on/off switch, with engine running detection built in so it only charges when the alternator is actually turning. Models go up to 400W in 12V, 24V and 48V, with no limit on how many units you can connect in parallel if you need more output down the track. It's suited to both lead-acid and lithium batteries and is rated for high temperatures up to 55°C, holding full rated output right up to 40°C, so it keeps working properly in a hot engine bay.

This is the isolated version: the input and output are galvanically isolated, which breaks ground loops and keeps your circuits safely separated - the right choice for marine systems and any install where a shared earth could cause problems. If you don't need isolation, the non-isolated Orion-Tr Smart is a lower-cost alternative.

How to Select the Right DC-DC Charger

  1. Choose the "Input Voltage" according to the battery from which you will be charging.
  2. Choose the "Output Voltage" according to the battery that you want to charge.
  3. Find a DC-DC model with a lower Output Current (Amps) than the Charge Current of the battery you want to charge.
